Cerisane once again confirms the heart of culture and sound research, preparing to host the third edition of the International Conference of Ethnomusicology. The picturesque village holds an ever deeper bond with the musical heritage of the Euro-Mediterranean basin, affirming itself as an indispensable reference point for internationally renowned scholars, researchers and musicians. This year the value of the initiative is further strengthened thanks to the recent institution, from last January, of the new Technology and Research Centre for Music and Audiovisivo in Palazzo Sersale, born from the virtuous synergy between the Municipality of Cerisano and the Conservatory of Music "Stanislao Giacomantonio" of Cosenza.
From 26 to 28 September, the historic rooms of Palazzo Sersale will turn into a lively cultural workshop, welcoming experts from universities, conservatories and Italian and foreign study centers. The event, curated by the ethnomusicologist Coriglianese Innocenzo Cosimo De Gaudio together with the Conservatory of the Cosentino directed by Francesco Perri and supported by the patronages of the Municipalities of Cerisano, Corigliano-Rossano and Cosenza, intends to enhance the position of Calabria as a cultural bridge millennial.
The three days will highlight archaic roots, executive practices and fascinating hybridizations that bind Calabrian sound traditions to Mediterranean, Balkan and Caucasus contexts, combining organology and live demonstrations to the most modern digital technologies for documentation and ethnomusicological analysis
The appointment will call Cerisano an exceptional mosaic of skills, between anthropologists, luthiers, builders of traditional instruments and independent professionals, ready to animate round tables, academic interventions and musical performances. For the community of Cerisano, the conference represents a fundamental confirmation of the path of territorial valorization undertaken in recent years through festivals and high-profile reviews. Inside Palazzo Sersale, the historical memory of the village and the avant-garde research meet, projecting Cerisano at the center of the international scientific and cultural scene.
