There is a village, perched in the hills of Calabria, that preserves the beauty of time and today chooses to open to the future. Cerisano, with its squares, its ancient alleys and its extraordinary heritage of history and culture, takes a courageous step: become the home of music, art and training.
The Conservatorio di Musica "Stanislao Giacomantonio" of Cosenza arrives in the heart of Cerisano thanks to an agreement between the municipal administration and the prestigious institute of Cosentino that provides the establishment of a teconological and research pole at Palazzo Sersale, a historic residence for years home to cultural initiatives that animate the village. From the academic year 2025/2026, students from all over Italy will attend the courses of Applied Music, Electronic Music and Sound Technician in a context in which chords, sounds, stories and ideas will cross the halls of Palazzo Sersale, intertwine with the fabric of the village, give life to new opportunities for young people and for the territory.
The activation of the Technology and Research Pole is part of the regeneration project Cerisano Factory, funded by the Ministry of Culture through the PNRR measure "Attractiveness of villages – Line B".
In addition to the Conservatory "Jacomantonium", the project involves the University of Calabria, the Pro Loco of Cerisano and numerous realities of the third sector and cultural entrepreneurship. There are scholarships, summer school, high-education courses and a strong investment in digital technologies, immersive reality and cultural communication, also thanks to the commitment of many young professionals and young women of the territory, who are contributing in the front line to change.
"It is a decisive step in the vision we have for Cerisano – said in a statement the Mayor of Lucio Di Gioia – focusing on culture and training means investing in the future, regenerating our village and creating new opportunities for growth, employment and welfare. Palazzo Sersale thus becomes the beating heart of innovation, study and art”.
Cerisano Factory also invests in other cultural initiatives and events, including the relaunch of the Festival of the Serre, historical events Cerisanese that has exceeded thirty years of life. As part of the ongoing regeneration project, the Festival assumes a structural role, becoming a permanent engine of artistic, creative and tourist synergies, able to generate cultural economy and sustainable development.
Cerisano Factory, therefore, is not just a project of urban regeneration, it is a new idea of country that returns to be home, not just postcard. A place where the immaterial heritage – such as the memory of the artist Michael Fingesten, to which a museum and a documentary centre will be dedicated – becomes the lymph for new forms of artistic expression, production and relationship. Where technology – through apps, virtual reality, digital maps and immersive content – meets the slowness and beauty of the journey, transforming every visit into a living experience.
To tell this transformation is the brand "Cerisano Borgo Swing", new visual identity of the country. The waves of the logo recall a musical pentagram, symbol of movement, creativity and expressive continuity. A sign that graphically translates a clear and shared vision, which aims to make Cerisano a forge of new models in which the arts, training and enterprise intertwine generating harmony, exchange and future.
The aim is not only to attract tourists, but to generate new membership. Families, young people, elderly people called to be part of a collective process that brings together culture and work, welcome and training, innovation and identity. With the aim of stopping the bleeding of residents and, indeed, making it a place where you return, you invest, you stay, Cerisano proposes today as a replicable model for other villages. A place where culture is not celebrated, but lived every day and where young local minds do not flee, but build.
